Truffle Hunting Dog

October 13, 2020

This is one of eight acoustic postcards blending music, sounds of place and people, and images to immerse you for a moment in the world of white truffles and Alba.

Filippo Cosentino found inspiration in his homeland for each song, drawing from his experience as a musician, composer, and producer. His sounds evoke the spirit of the subject of each postcard and demonstrate his unique talent in venturing with music to different areas, in some ways like a truffle dog, looking for the treasure.

Photos by Bruno Murialdo stir dreaming. Much is said in his images about the lands and people of the Piedmont. They provoke contemplation. Each postcard has music that speaks to that postcard’s subject. A phrase from the book, The Treasures of Alba (to be published by Pegasus Books) completes the experience.

The happy song expresses the love between a truffle hunter and their dog in the woods searching for white truffles. It ends with a new melody line suggesting a new search has begun. Over and over it goes for hours through the night or during the day, the game, the hunt.
